So what can Sheffield offer? With a population of over 550,000, we too have an equally diverse and vibrant array of LGBT communities, services and groups but, where are they? How do you find and access them?
LGBT Sheffield aims to address these questions, and give LGBT communities, services and groups in Sheffield a shared identity through which we can all communicate and support each other, and educate and liaise with non-LGBT organisations and groups.
LGBT SHEFFIELD – A CITY-WIDE INITIATIVE
LGBT Sheffield is a volunteer-led charity attempting to give Sheffield a unique, centralised and shared LGBT identity, bringing together the various groups, communities and services within the city under one ‘umbrella’.
Leading the group are representatives from various communities and groups within Sheffield, both professional and voluntary, including Sheffield City Council and, South Yorkshire police. We began by rolling out information and membership to the wider city so organisations and groups can get involved and individuals can share their voices and thoughts on how to develop the city’s LGBT identity and how LGBT Sheffield can help.
